LiveWire will be recording the final preview performance of Garth Drabinsky’s new Broadway musical “Sousatzka!” at Toronto’s Elgin Theatre on Feb 24. LiveWire has been involved with the musical for the past year, having recorded workshop performances in January and July in front of invited audiences. It’s a great story of a South African piano prodigy torn between the worlds of his eccentric Polish piano teacher and her circle of friends in 1980’s London, and his mother and father who were activists in the apartheid struggle in their homeland. LiveWire is honoured to be working with legendary sound designer Martin Levan (“Phantom of the Opera”, “Kiss of the Spider Woman”, “Sunset Boulevard”, and “Showboat”) The show is running over 100 audio inputs, so it will be a complex recording setup.
