LiveWire spent seven weeks in August and September recording six episodes of a new music competition series called “The Launch” at Commercial Studios in Scarborough. The show’s executive producer is Scott Borchetta, manager of Taylor Swift and Florida-Georgia Line. Each episode featured a musical mentor and a guest producer. Mentors included Shania Twain, Boy George, Nikki Sixx, Ryan Tedder and Fergie. Some of the guest producers were Stefan Moccio, Dan Huff, and Busbee.
Five musical acts appeared each week and played a cover and an original song for the panel. The field was then narrowed down to two artists, who were then presented with a song written by one of Nashville’s top songwriters. The two acts then go into the studio with the producer and have 48 hours to record the song. The following day, they perform the song in front of a live audience. The winner gets their version of the song released on Borchetta’s record label, Big Machine Records.
The show starts airing in early January.
