The Gala concert for the Canada’s Walk of Fame induction ceremonies took place on December 2 at the Metro Toronto Convention Centre, and LiveWire was there to record all the audio for the CTV broadcast taking place on December 16 on ET. The tribute to Avril Lavigne featuring an incendiary performance of Sk8ter Boi by Fefe Dobson was a highlight, as was the 12 voice choir’s tribute to Kardinall Offishall. The Gary Slaight tribute included Brett Kissell and two other vocalists playing a Gordon Lightfoot medley, and the in Memoriam featured a beautiful version of Robbie Robertson’s “The Weight” sung by five up and coming artists. Other inductees included Edmonton Oiler Connor McDavid, indigenous actor and activist Tantoo Cardinal, internationally reknowned judge Rosalie Silberman Abella, pioneering neurologist Dr. Brenda Miller (105 years old!) and the producers and cast of the long-running teen drama Degrassi. It was the 25th anniversary of Canada’s Walk of Fame.
